To prolong the life of the fabric store cushions and umbrellas indoors during winter or inclement weather
To prolong the life of your cushions, spread a towel over the cushion when using baby oil, suntan lotions or oils. These products tend to breakdown the U.V. factor in the fabric and can cause premature fading.
Spilling food or drink onto your cushion can cause bacteria to be trapped between fibers and threads, causing mold to grow. Periodically clean your cushions with mild soap and water to safeguard against this. Fabric itself does not support mold, but the bacteria can become trapped between weaves.
The type of weave, the fibers used in the fabric as well as hours of U.V. protection are a few things that determine the cost of each fabric. Fabrics are put into grades based on price.

Spot wash with a solution of liquid soap in lukewarm water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and air dry. For stubborn stains or suntan lotion, use fabric spot remover. Follow directions on container. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Solution-dyed acrylic does not promote mildew growth. However, mildew may grow on dirt and other foreign substances that are not cleaned off the fabric. To clean mildew stains, prepare a solution of one cup bleach and two tablespoons of liquid dishwashing soap per gallon of water. Spray on the area and allow to soak in. Scrub with sponge and rinse thoroughly with clean water, allow to air dry. Fabric can be sprayed off with hose.

Periodically use a mild detergent and water solution, rinse with clean water to keep fabric looking fresh and new, and to prevent mildew. Wipe stains with warm water as soon as possible. If necessary, apply a laundry pre-wash and leave for 10-minutes. Then re-apply warm water and detergent solution and rinse thoroughly with clean water. A chlorine bleach and water solution of one cup bleach per gallon of water may be used on stubborn stains and mildew without affecting fabric color. Avoid direct contact with suntan lotions and oils. If contact does occur, clean promptly. Fabric can be sprayed off with hose.
